Highs -n- Lows Living with the Disease

Monday, August 19th

Another beautiful morning!

I continue to have the swelling which then increases my pain...I've been wondering if I should call my Dr and see if she thinks I should come in earlier.  My appointment, otherwise, is on Thursday at 3:30.  I've had a tough time walking for a few days now and I don't want to cause any additional problems.
I do wish I had a way to switch on and off parts of my struggles.  I  could use a break. :-)

I didn't make it to church yesterday because of the pain and difficulty walking.  Instead I turned on the TV and watched a show called Super Soul Sunday on the Oprah network.  I thought this show was eye opening.

On Super Soul Sunday they were talking about...

* We all have struggles and different was of coping with those struggles or problems...we are all the same...Some people use alcohol, drugs, overeat, undereat, shop, work and on and on...we all have our own addictions to help us through our problems. :-)

* There is an order in all that happens in our lives and things happen for a reason.  Accept and trust there is a meaning behind all that happens. :-)

* You are valuable in who you are, just the way you are...use your knowledge to teach others.  :-)

Today's Meditation

"We do not see things as they are. We see them as we are."
—The Talmud

Miraculous Reflection Meditation

Today in our meditation we will explore the mirror of relationship. This is the idea that all of our relationships are a reflection of ourselves. The people we are attracted to are those who have traits that we have, only more so. We enjoy their company because we subconsciously feel that being with them will help us to cultivate and manifest those traits even more in our own lives. In the same way, we are repelled by people who reflect back to us traits that that are difficult to face in our own selves.

The mirror of relationship is a valuable tool that we can use to see ourselves more clearly and to expand our awareness. As we become willing to embrace the light and shadow that we all possess, we bring love and healing to ourselves and our relationships.

Our centering thought for today is:

The world is my mirror.

MINDFUL MOMENT

Pay attention to the lessons that you can learn from others today. Observe your reactions to the many people who cross your path. When you can see that everyone in the world is simply sharing your own consciousness, you will lose the need to judge others and open to greater understanding and love. With each encounter you have, observe carefully and repeat these words silently to yourself, “In you I see me, in me I see you.” Feel the compassion in your heart open and witness how the way you see the world begins to change.

Today's Bible Study

God’s Condition for Blessing

Read | Romans 12:1-2

If people were really honest, many would say their Christianity barely resembles the faith experience God has promised. They struggle repeatedly with the same sins, complain that God rarely answers prayers, and wonder why He hasn’t given them the desires of their heart. However, most believers never stop to ask, Why doesn’t God favor me?

The answer to that question can revolutionize our life if we are willing to meet God’s one condition for full blessing. We are designed with a capacity to experience the Lord’s best in every area of life, but for that to happen, we must offer ourselves as living sacrifices. In other words, we are to be separated from the world and given to God for His purposes.

Don’t be fooled by cultural views on servants. God doesn’t call the weak into bondage to the strong. In fact, believers are the freest people in the world because we can trust our Father to give us the very best in return for our commitment. His best may not always look appealing from the outset, but experience teaches us that He orchestrates all circumstances to our benefit (Rom. 8:28).

We can never be satisfied with less than the Lord’s best. Avoiding submission will result in wasted years of chasing after His blessing through our own cunning. On the other hand, our hearts are saturated with joy and peace when we draw close to Him. The best way to connect with God is to willingly put ourselves in His hand. Allow Him to reveal what great blessings He can send via your surrendered will.

Another great day!
